Choosing by what you need
A free app from a nonprofit, with Apple Watch and twin support
Count the Kicks! fits this, per its listing and its download page. The download page also lists an Android app and a web counter.
A counter that, per its listing, stops by itself, with an Apple Watch version
Baby Kicks Monitor fits this. It is free and its listing carries a Contains Advertising notice. Its Pro edition costs $0.99 and its listing carries no advertising notice.
Kick counting together with weekly pregnancy content
Kicksy fits this on iPhone, and so does the BabyCenter app, which has its own comparison on this site.
A plain counter with charts and a PDF for your provider, and a subscription is fine
Bumpi Kicks fits this. We make it and list it last.
How we chose and checked these apps
- On October 13, 2026 we searched the US App Store through Apple's public search API with 18 phrases, among them kick counter, baby kick counter, count kicks, fetal movement counter, baby movement tracker and pregnancy kick tracker, and read up to 200 results for each. The searches returned more than 900 different apps.
- We list an app when "kick" is in its name, its name or subtitle presents it as a baby kick counter, monitor or tracker, and it has at least 50 ratings. Five apps meet all three conditions. Apps that meet the first two but have fewer ratings are not listed, and most of them have fewer than 10.
- We left out pregnancy and parenting apps that have no "kick" in their name but include a kick counter among many other tools, and apps that are not in the US App Store. Some of those apps have tens of thousands of ratings. If you already use one, its listing says what its counter offers.
- Every cell about another app comes from that app's own listing page and was checked on that date. The cells about Bumpi Kicks come from its listing and from the app's code. A rating count, a price or a device list can change within days. We did not install or run the other apps, so the languages column counts what each listing shows and says nothing about how much of an app is translated.
- The compatibility section of each listing also names a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later and Apple Vision, and some name iPod touch. We did not test the apps on those devices, so the devices column shows iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch only.
- The last column repeats the App Privacy section of each listing in Apple's own headings. "Data Used to Track You" is Apple's heading for data that may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. The developers fill these answers in themselves, and Apple states that it has not verified them, so the column says what an app declares and not what it does.
- We make Bumpi Kicks, so we have a commercial interest. We list it last and show its single rating. If you spot a mistake, email us and we will correct it.
Questions about kick counter apps
Which kick counter apps are free?
Of the apps in the table, the US App Store listed Count the Kicks!, Baby Kicks Monitor, Count Baby Kicks and Kicksy at a price of Free on October 13, 2026. Baby Kicks Monitor and Count Baby Kicks say they contain advertising, and Count Baby Kicks and Kicksy list in-app purchases. Baby Kicks Monitor Pro costs $0.99. Our app is free to download, but counting needs a Pro subscription.
Which kick counter apps have an Apple Watch app?
Of the apps in the table, Count the Kicks!, Baby Kicks Monitor, Baby Kicks Monitor Pro and Count Baby Kicks list Apple Watch among their supported devices. Kicksy and our app do not.
Is there a kick counter app for twins?
Count the Kicks! says in its listing that it is compatible with single or twin pregnancies. None of the other listings in the table mentions twins, and our app has no twin mode.
Is there a kick counter app for Android, or one I can use on the web?
Count the Kicks! says on its download page that it has an iOS app, an Android app and a web counter, and it also offers paper charts. Our app is not on Google Play (checked October 13, 2026). This page compares App Store listings, so it does not describe the Android apps.
Do kick counter apps replace medical monitoring?
No. The NHS says to call your midwife or maternity unit immediately if your baby moves less than usual, you cannot feel movement or the usual pattern changes, and not to wait until the next day. The RCOG also says to contact your midwife or maternity unit immediately if your baby moves less than usual or the pattern changes. A counting app records the movements you tap and cannot tell you whether your baby is well. The Baby Kicks Monitor listing also says to contact your doctor for advice immediately if you notice less kicking.
Is there an NHS-recommended kick counter app?
The NHS page on your baby's movements does not mention any kick counter app, and it says you do not need to count kicks. A UK charity, Kicks Count, publishes a free counting app, and the charity's page says the app is listed with NHS Digital. The NHS says its Apps Library has closed, and its address returned HTTP 410 Gone on October 13, 2026, so we could not confirm that listing and treat "NHS-approved" on other sites as unconfirmed. Whichever app you use, call your midwife or maternity unit immediately if your baby moves less than usual, you cannot feel movement or the usual pattern changes.
Do kick counter apps collect my data?
Each developer fills in the App Privacy section of its listing, and Apple says it has not verified those answers. Baby Kicks Monitor Pro declares "Data Not Collected". The other apps in the table declare data under "Data Used to Track You", which Apple describes as data that may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies: identifiers, or usage data for Kicksy. Count the Kicks! also declares Health & Fitness data under "Data Not Linked to You". Our app declares purchases and identifiers under "Data Used to Track You", purchases, identifiers and usage data under "Data Linked to You", and Health & Fitness, User Content and Sensitive Info under "Data Not Linked to You". Each app's privacy policy has the detail.
